Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery says he is expecting a two or three stop strategy to be the optimum approach to this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix.
Formula 1 returns this week to race around the streets of Albert Park with medium and soft tyres in use.
Last season, Kimi Raikkonen won in Australia after adopting a two stop strategy, compared to a three stop strategy used by several rivals.
“This is the most radical rules shake-up of the modern Formula 1 era, so we’ve had to create a completely different set of tyres for the brand new dynamics presented by the 2014 cars,” said Hembery.
