Mexican entertainment company CIE announced on Tuesday that it has signed a five-year contract to stage a grand prix in the country, starting in 2015.
The company, which described itself as ‘a pioneer in the out-of-home entertainment industry in Latin America’ operates the Hermanos Rodriguez track in Mexico City.
In a statement, CIE said that it would provide further information when full negotiations have been completed.
Named after Mexico’s famous racing brothers Ricardo and Pedro Rodriguez, the 4.484km Hermanos Rodriguez track hosted F1 between 1962 and 1970 and again from 1986 to 1992.
