For the majority of the 10 teams in attendance, Friday was a productive day. However, it was another frustrating session for reigning world champion’s Red Bull Racing after the team was forced to end its running early for the third consecutive day.
For Mercedes and Ferrari-powered runners, it was a largely trouble-free day with plenty of test mileage being completed on the new V6 Turbo power-plants. The former’s newest customer, Williams, topped the timesheets on day four with Felipe Massa at the wheel.
Running started on a damp track and under grey and cloudy skies, but the weather improved as the day progressed. Early runs took place on the wet and intermediate rubber, before teams switched to the slick Pirelli compounds for the afternoon.
