Hamilton: Rosberg admits he hit me deliberately

Lewis Hamilton says Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg admitted in a post-race meeting that he hit him deliberately during Sunday afternoon’s Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.

Hamilton picked up a left-rear puncture when Rosberg tagged the back of his car at Les Combes on the second lap of Sunday afternoon’s race.

Rosberg finished second and extended his championship lead to 29 points, with Hamilton ultimately retiring as a result of damage to his car.

“We just had a meeting about it and he basically said he did it on purpose,” Hamilton explained after his debrief with the team.

“He said he could have avoided it, but he didn’t want to. He basically said, ‘I did it to prove a point’.”

When asked if he could trust Rosberg again, Hamilton said: “I don’t really know how to approach the next race.”

Hamilton added that he was surprised the stewards did not look into the collision during the race.

“I thought for sure there would be an investigation or something like that,” Hamilton commented
