Jenson Button believes McLaren is now capable of fighting every team, with the exception of Mercedes.
Button finished third in the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, and with rookie team-mate, Kevin Magnussen one spot ahead and second, it was a great start to the 2014 Formula 1 season for the Woking-based outfit, especially given McLaren’s miserable form last year.
“I think we can be very proud of the job we did,” Button remarked after the opening round in the championship. “I don’t think we expected to be leading the Constructors’ World Championship at the end of this weekend, but I think the pace in the car is generally there: in clear air, we seem capable of fighting every team except one. I’m really looking forward now to getting back in the car in Malaysia.”
