Why? Because you need to see the value of pilots also where the car is not competitive. And because the first you have to defeat in Formula 1 is your teammate!

Rating or tires change – we will award tires according to the pilots’ performance in every Grand Prix. The best performance will be awarded with supersoft tires and the worst with rain tires, meaning that a rating of 6 is the maximum and 1 is the minimum. We will not take into account the performance of the car or other things that are not under the direct control of the pilots.

(+) Pilot of the race: Fernando Alonso. It is obvious that Alonso squeezes out the car. And he does this race after race.

(-) Cab driver: Felipe Massa. He wasn’t completely to blame for the incident that took him out of the race, but he did have a good share of it.

Race performance rating: 8 out of 10.

Red Bull: Vettel rating 5 (6, 4) – Ricciardo rating 6 (5, 6)

We award our point to Vettel, but with half a heart. He lost the qualifications, and Ricciardo wasn’t to blame, but to honor for having so widely avoided, while also keeping control of the car, Felipe Massa’s single seater which toppled in the air. However, only Ricciardo receives the highest rating.

Mercedes: Rosberg rating 6 (1, 1) – Hamilton rating 6 (20, 3)

It is true that Lewis had no fault during the qualifications – maybe only when it comes to the brake discs used, whose manufacturer is chosen by the driver – or during the race, even though he was aggressive. This is how a Formula 1 driver must be. However, we award Rosberg with the point, who managed to win at home, being under a lot of pressure.

Ferrari: Alonso rating 6 (7, 7) – Raikkonen rating 3 (12, 11)

Here, who wins the battle in the team is no longer an issue, but only the ratings we can award. It’s hard not to bash Raikkonen, because half of season is over. We award the Finn with a 3.

McLaren: Button rating 5 (11, 8)  – Magnussen rating 5 (4, 9 )

We are also faced with a puzzling situation because Magnussen was faster during qualifications, and we do not want to penalize him for the incident with Massa. In the end, the one who brought more points to the team and had a formidable start was Jenson.

Lotus: Grosjean rating 5 (14, 21) – Maldonado rating 5 (18, 12)

Grosjean was the fastest driver during the qualifications, but, when he abandoned the race for technical reasons, Maldonado – with a different strategy – was in front of him. For encouragement, we award our point to the Venezuelan.

Force India: Hulkenberg rating 6 (9, 7) – Perez rating 5 (10, 10)

Sergio Perez had a very interesting discussion with his race engineer. We can’t be certain about that at this stage. We cannot be certain. We cannot rely on the rain, so please lift-and-coast. That’s the last time I’m going to ask you, OK? I will not repeat it again. Hulkenberg eventually prevailed in this race.

Sauber: Sutil rating 6 (15, 19) – Gutierrez rating 5 (16, 14 )

Sutil was faster during the race but not in qualifications … until the technical problems on the engine. Sutil had the chance to win his first points of the year.

And even if he had no fault in the incident with Magnussen, although we say he did, the history will record that, until the mid season, his teammate Bottas won three podiums, and him none.
