Canada 2014 – the rating and the fight between team mates

Why? Because you need to see the value of pilots also where the car is not competitive. And because the first you have to defeat in Formula 1 is your teammate!

Rating or tires change – we will award tires according to the pilots’ performance in every Grand Prix. The best performance will be awarded with supersoft tires and the worst with rain tires, meaning that a rating of 6 is the maximum and 1 is the minimum. We will not take into account the performance of the car or other things that are not under the direct control of the pilots.

(+) Pilot of the race: Daniel Ricciardo

(-) Taxi driver: Max Chilton and Sergio Perez

Race show: 8 out of 10. But this generous rating comes amid the technical issues had by Mercedes’s cars.

Red Bull: Vettel rating 5 (3, 3) – Ricciardo rating 6 (6, 1)

Daniel Ricciardo qualified a tenth behind Vettel, but won a race starting from the 6th place, and did complain, nor criticize his team as Sebastian did. He is obviously the man of the race, and receives the F1 Manager point for Montreal.

Montreal 0 – 1

General 1 – 6

Mercedes: Rosberg rating 6 (1, 2) – Hamilton rating 6 (2, 17)

People who do not like Rosberg say that he is too gentle and that he doesn’t have champion heart in him. Now that was more aggressive, many say he is a jerk … Hmm. Rosberg ran a very good, calculated race, and knew to settle for less because this means more in the drivers’ rankings.

Montreal 1 – 0

General 3 – 4

Ferrari: Alonso rating 5 (7, 6) – Raikkonen rating 4 (10, 10)

We don’t know what it’s like to be a strong supporter of the Maranello team, and be successful for so many years with a pilot like Alonso, and now with one like Raikkonen. Alono lost from the start, he struggled and was removed from the race or did not stand out. And Kimi was even worse. We blame the car, but this does not do much good to the two. Ferrari lacks a clear and bold vision; it seems that those in charge don’t know what to do, nor where they are heading.

Montreal 1 – 0

General 6 – 1

McLaren: Button rating 6 (9, 4)  – Magnussen rating 4 (12, 9 )

Interestingly, Jenson Button recovered several positions in the end, and came in 4th. The McLaren car seemed very fast in the second part of the race, and this comes after the first part of the race, when it seemed they would fail.

Montreal 1 – 0

General 5 – 2

Lotus: Grosjean rating 5 (14, 15) – Maldonado rating 5 (17, 19)

Once again, two dropouts for the Lotus team, and Grosjean again in front of Maldonado durin qualifications, the latter still being the pilot ranked last in 2014.

Montreal 1 – 0

General 6 – 0

Force India: Hulkenberg rating 6 (11, 5) – Perez rating 2 (13, 11)

The Mexican Sergio wanted the podium and nothing, so why not take a southern neighbor out of the race, too, namely the Brazilian Felipe Massa. Eventually, the person scored and has a higher position in the rankings is Nico.

Montreal 1 – 0

General 5 – 2

Sauber: Sutil rating 5 (16, 13) – Gutierrez rating 4 (22, 14 )

‘Good’ places obtained by the Swiss Sauber team, but this comes with many dropouts on the circuit.

Montreal 1 – 0

General 3 – 4

Williams: Massa rating 5 (5, 12) – Bottas rating 5 (4, 7)

If the Williams people would have used team orders and Massa should have passed Bottas by 5 laps, the Brazilian would have had some chances to win. But many things could have happened and did not in this first race, and Felipe’s misfortune reminds us of Schumacher’s bad luck in his last Formula 1 season.

Montreal 1 – 0

General 5 – 2

Toro Rosso: Kvyat rating 4 (8, 8) – Vergne rating 6 (15, 16)

Vergne is trying to regain the top position in the team, knowing that, if he doesn’t do this quickly, his career in Formula 1 will end in this late autumn.

Montreal 0 – 1

General 3 – 4

Marussia: Bianchi rating 5 (19, 22) – Chilton rating 2 (18, 21)

Max Chilton completed 26 consecutive races, specifically the first 26 races of his career, and now decided to resort to violent braking and take himself and his teammate out of the race.

Montreal 0 – 1

General 4 – 3

Caterham: Kobayashi rating 5 (21, 18) – Ericcson rating 5 (20, 20)

Caterham stays in F1 so there are 11 teams? If so, they can leave in the fall, because others are likely to join F1 next year.

Montreal 1 – 0

General 5 – 1
